Web apps are the future

Everyday we are seeing more web apps available. Look at bloglines, flickr, backpack, these are a few examples of good programming. Google is clearly trying to get a piece of it by deploying Gmail and other services.

For the PDA community, we will see more of it as well. Especially as we get more connected. My impression is that we will also have web apps that do not require devices to be connected to the internet. The application will be "served" by the local machine, acting as a web server, so people can use the application by using a web browser.

Still, it is still very early to see any good examples of such applications for PDAs, primarily because PDA browsers are somewhat limited (with rare exceptions, like Netfront). Also the userbase is small at this time, but with more "connected" devices coming out we should see more mobile apps.
