FreeRangeInc RSS Reader

I've just completed testing FreeNews, the RSS Java applet from FreeRangeInc, and boy am I impressed. This little Java applet seamlessly installs on all devices with Java capabilities (BlackBerry, Cell-Phones, SmartPhones, Treo, etc..) and allows me to read all my favorite RSS feeds while on the fly. Currently I am using this program on the BlackBerry 7100t, and plan to upload to my Treo in the near future.

With the push of a few buttons you can easily navigate your preset feeds, which you manage via a simple and straightforward web-interface. The feeds can be updated manually or automatically upon starting the program. This program has saved me from hours of aggravation trying to surf the web on my BlackBerry to just learn what is going on in the world. In light of the horrific events in London, I felt like I was totally kept in the loop while checking my BlackBerry between patients. Yesterday, this program was invaluable!

Some examples of feeds that I have are:
Obst/Gync, JAMA, BMJ, NYTimes, CNN, BBC, Gizmodo, Slashdot, and Engadget, and 10 more! The feeds are easy to read, the text is clear, I can easily identify previously read articles, and I truly cannot see a difference in quality between the RSS on my desktop and the RSS on my PDA.

Also, a great feature on their web-user interface allows you to search all articles that contain a "buzzword" of your picking. Interested in guavas? Create a feed via the interface and you will be sent all the articles being published with guavas!

Good job FreeRangeInc-- simple, affordable, manageable, and useful!
