Lifedrive and Windows Mobile 2005

These coming weeks are going to be interesting for the PDA market.

PalmOne will launch their LifeDrive, a new PalmOS device with many interesting features, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4Gb of storage space and much more. It will retail for US$499, aimed at the high-end and business users. I think this will be a great device. Maybe they could launch a stripped-down version at a better price for mid-level users around US$300. At this point I think Wi-Fi and Bluetooth should be considered standard, but the storage could be decreased to reach a lower price.

The other big announcement is Windows Mobile 2005, which will be announced at Devcon 2005. Unlike Windows Mobile 2003, this is going to be a signifficant upgrade in most major components of the operational system. I hope that current users of Windows Mobile 2003 will be able to upgrade to the newer version (though I doubt that it will be the case, as they want to force us to get a newer PDA and shell out more cash).
