Thumb interfaces for PDAs

The way I use my PDA is 90% retrieving data, and only 10% entering data. So while I think current PDA interfaces are fairly good, it would be great to be able to use it without using a stylus.

Imagine being able to get your daily schedule, appointment or contact information by just tapping the screen with your thumb or fingers. It would make things easier, considering that one could use it with one hand only.

Apparently there is some ongoing research on the subject, but I haven't seen any real decent add-ons that could enable one to use the PDA by using their thumbs (other than full-screen keyboards).
