PDAs as a source of bacteria

A post over at Engadget made me think about this possibility. The keyboards and devices that we manipulate daily are probably full of a lot of bacteria.

In the hospital I work at, most computers that are in clinical areas have a transparent plastic cover, but I don't think they get cleaned the way they should be. It would be interesting to swab these plastic covers and see what grows.

On the PDA side, I don't even have a screen cover on my Dell Axim, I just use the regular plastic stylus and there are no scratches. But I bet there are also a lot of bugs on my PDA as well. I think I will talk to someone in Infectious Diseases and see if they have an interest in pursuing a small project.
