Doctors using Google
Let me tell you what I witnessed last week. I was supervising an intern, when he had a question that I could not answer. He turned to Google for answers, to my surprise, instead of going to a more traditional source such as Harrison's or Up-to-Date.
My point is that people are making important decisions based on what high-ranking websites say... which is dangerous because who knows who wrote that information ? Maybe it was a high-school kid doing his science homework. A second point is that we are seeing the dissolution of big authorities. Everyone can write whatever they want about any subject, and it can suddenly turn into a high-ranking page on a specific set of keyywords.

Harrison's and UpToDate are paid sources but there is a lot of quality information on the web for free, like eMedicine, ClevelandClinicMedEd.com, VH.org, etc.
Google images for CXRs, EKGs, CTs also works well. If the website address is from Harvard, Yale, CCF or CWRU, then most of the time, it is OK to be referred to.
You have to check which source is credible and which is not. It is just like everything else on the web - you have to be careful.
