PDA Wi-Fi does not cause problems with ICDs

An interesting article was published on Mayo Clinic Proceedings. The study evaluated in vitro whether PDAs equipped with Wi-Fi caused interference with implantable cardiac devices, such as implantable defibrillators and pacemakers. The study concluded that Wi-Fi did not cause interference with the devices.

There are still many places where cell-phones can not be used, but that is being brought down. Wi-Fi is a fairly new technology, but steps are being made to make sure it is ok to use it near medical devices, especially devices that are critical in keeping someone alive.
