MDanywhere, MobiHealth to Merge

EMR is certainly still distant for most hospitals. But more companies are mergings to be able to deliver a good product. Take a look below.

-----------
September 22, 2004 - MDanywhere Technologies Inc., a Baltimore, Md.-based company that offers mobile electronic medical records applications and practice management software for physician offices as well as electronic records for hospitals, will merge with MobiHealth Inc., an Arlington, Va.-based firm that offers physicians PDA-based applications such as charge capture, order entry and e-prescribing. While the companies are calling the deal a merger, the new firm will carry the MDanywhere name and MDanywhere executives will manage the company. MobiHealth will operate as a division within MDanywhere.

The new company will focus on Web-based MDanywhere technology as a back-end system for hospitals and physician practices while promoting MobiHealth software for point-of-care applications, according to a spokesman.

Both companies have signed a letter of intent to merge, and the boards have approved the deal. The companies plan to close the transaction by Oct. 1.
